Research on the edge

At RE:LAB, research is more than a process; it’s the pulse of innovation that drives us forward.

Our commitment extends beyond our labs; we collaborate closely with our clients and partners to shape the future of Human Machine Interaction (HMI) and beyond. By participating in both national and international projects, we’re not just contributors; we’re pioneers, charting new territories in the realm of interactive technologies

Research in interaction

We’re dedicated to advancing the field of interactive technologies, always exploring innovative ways to analyze user behaviour and develop standout HMI solutions.

Our strategy includes benchmarking cutting-edge technologies, creating proof-of-concept projects, and facilitating tech events to collaborate with industry pioneers.

Our research encompasses a range of topics: neuroergonomics, the use of nudges as design triggers in interactions, HMI solutions for AI-managed functions, advanced tools for detecting users’ status (including emotions, workload, and attention), and tangible virtual interfaces, among others.

Proudly accredited in our region, we’re at the forefront of pushing boundaries and defining the future of interaction research.

R&D projects and fundraising

Innovation is our currency, and projects are how we measure it. We join, lead, and collaborate in dozens of EU and national-funded projects and we are always proactive in matching new initiatives, launching ideas, in being on the edge.

We have solid expertise in writing proposals, leading and managing projects and are effective in supporting the industrial deployment of research results.

To enlarge our EU reach in the automotive, connectivity and info mobility sectors, we joined the great community of ERTICO.

We have been among the founders of the User Centric automotive community of HMI designers HUMANIST.

Also, we are founding members of Emilia-Romagna region clusters on mechatronics, ICT and services, and Cultural and creative industries.

Laboratorio Rete Alta Tecnologia

TECHNOLOGICAL LABS NETWORK OF THE EMILIA ROMAGNA REGION.

The laboratory offers a range of research activities that goes from the design, prototyping and development of technological solutions (such as hardware, software, mechanical components, IoT, mobile apps, etc.) to usability evaluations, design of conceptual models, and project proposals drafting, both at national and international level.

The expertise employed in the laboratory includes researchers from different areas: Technical, Ergonomics & Human Factors and Fundraising. The main tools used by the internal expertise include the use of sophisticated softwares, such as Kanzi RightwarE, Altia Design, Canoe v6.1, Adobe, among others.

The code of ethics stipulates that the parties are bound to secrecy and confidentiality. Ownership of any results and the right to use them will be exclusively with the client.
