About this position

Company Description

RE:LAB is a design and innovation company specialized in shaping the interaction between people and complex technologies.

Since 2004, we have been working on products and systems used daily across the automotive, industrial, and consumer sectors. Our goal is to make advanced technology understandable, safe, and natural to use.

We don’t just design interfaces. We design experiences that bring together design, engineering, human factors, and artificial intelligence. Our multidisciplinary team tackles real-world challenges in highly complex contexts, where quality and reliability are essential.

We partner with global companies when user experience is not a detail, but a critical factor for a product’s success—when adoption, safety, and user trust truly make the difference.

At RE:LAB, we believe technology should feel human. This belief guides the way we work, the design decisions we make, and the relationships we build every day.

Designing human experiences for complex technologies.

Position

To strengthen our HMI and design activities, we are looking for a UX HMI Expert to lead and support the definition of interaction concepts for complex digital systems.

The role focuses on structuring user interactions, guiding UX definition activities, and ensuring alignment between design intent, system architecture, and technical implementation. The selected candidate will act as a key reference within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to both concept definition and validation processes.

Main Activities

  • Define and structure interaction concepts, user flows, and system behaviors for HMI systems.
  • Lead UX activities related to complex systems in the automotive domain, including in-vehicle interfaces and connected services.
  • Contribute to the definition of functional UX specifications and system-level interaction logic.
  • Support and guide UX validation activities, including scenario definition and usability evaluation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, designers, and project partners to ensure coherence across system development.
  • Act as a reference point for UX within multidisciplinary teams, facilitating alignment between concept, design, and implementation.
  • Contribute to documentation, design guidelines, and project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, Human–Computer Interaction, Cognitive Ergonomics, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in HMI design and UX definition for complex systems, preferably in the automotive domain.
  • Strong ability to define interaction flows, use cases, and system behaviors.
  • Experience in functional specification and UX documentation.
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design methodologies and validation processes.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and mediate between design, engineering, and project constraints.
  • Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with automotive HMI systems (e.g. cluster, infotainment, ADAS interfaces).
  • Familiarity with system engineering approaches and requirements definition.
  • Experience collaborating with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, or complex project ecosystems.
  • Sensitivity to usability, safety, and regulatory aspects in interaction design.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Figma or similar design and documentation tools.
