We’re happy to announce the programme and CfP of the 2026 HUMANIST Summer School at RE:LAB s.r.l. in Reggio nell’Emilia, Italy (May 26th-28th 2026). The Summer School is structured as an intensive three-day course, each day dedicated to a specific topic in the field of Human Factors applied to the automotive and transport sectors (see flyer attached to this email). The aim is to create a space for concrete discussion between academia and industry, promoting the exchange of skills, methodologies, and operational experiences. Each day is divided into two complementary parts:
Morning – Talks and testimonials
The morning sessions are dedicated to presentations and testimonials from experts from the academic and industrial worlds, to introduce the theme of the day, presenting case studies, methodological approaches, and current challenges. This phase provides participants with a common theoretical and practical framework, which can be used in the subsequent activities.
Afternoon – Workshops and design thinking
In the afternoon, participants are involved in workshop sessions and experimental design activities, working in groups on design challenges related to the theme of the day. The activities are structured according to design thinking methodologies and coordinated by experts in the field to promote dialogue between academia and industry.
The workshops are designed to provide concrete tools useful for designing solutions and defining more accurate and realistic usability tests, helping to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial applications. Each workshop session ends with a brief presentation of the work carried out by the groups, encouraging the sharing of results and discussion among participants.
At the end of the first and second day, there will be a snapshot presentation session of 3 Mins. (6 Mins. including questions) during which participants can present their research projects, creating an opportunity for discussion and networking among participants and experts. ECTS points can be gathered if needed.
The third day will conclude with an awards ceremony, during which the winning projects and contributions that emerged during the summer school will be announced and highlighted.
